The opinion of the Asian origin of the baroque style is still debatable. However, interestingly, in the XVIII – XIX in. The Ottoman Empire became interested in this European architectural style. Turkish sultans were not very interested in more modern styles (classicism) and earlier (Romanesque style, Gothic). Perhaps the Turks really saw something native to themselves in baroque buildings.
